After putting the proposal for the new site out to several local web-design companies YPTE chose to work with us to construct their new website bringing them into the responsive, modern web.
Their old website was a treasure trove of environmental facts and had gained huge search engine exposure through large, original articles on environmental issues and endangered animals. They wanted to update their website to make it responsive and continue to expand upon their success with regard to their search engine ranking.
After an involved design process with functional prototypes we produced a bespoke content management system to enable rich content distribution across the different types of media they produced including videos, lesson plans and factsheets.
Bespoke Content Management System
The site uses a bespoke content management system written in Ruby on Rails with extensive caching and optimisation techniques being used to help deliver fast page load times at a low cost even with millions of page views. The site is hosted on a custom setup utilising a load balancer, a content distribution network and automatic scaling to help the site cope with traffic spikes, minimise running costs and deliver useful educational content across the world in a timely manner.
The site has continued to expand with donation functionaity, a CRM and gradual improvements to help with search engine ranking.
Web Award Winning Site
The site recently won The Outstanding Website Award 2015 from The Web Marketing Association and continues to get positive comments from the general public, schools and pupils for its easy to use interface and useful information.
